  • Continuing Professional Education for CPAs

    Rice University is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.     Program Level
    The courses listed are offered at a basic level to present learning activities most beneficial to CPAs new to a skill or an attribute, usually those at the staff or entry level in organizations. However, the programs may also benefit seasoned professionals with limited exposure to the area.

    Receiving the CPE Credits
    Please contact the program coordinator at 713-348-4803 to request CPE credit information.

    Refund Policy (unless otherwise stated for specific program)
    Fees will be refunded in full when enrollments are canceled in writing one week before a course begins. If you drop a course less than one week before the course begins, no refund will be issued unless a replacement for you can be found, in which case a 20 percent processing fee will be deducted from your refund. Refunds will not be issued after the first class.

    Course Cancellation Policy
    Although we make every effort to maintain the published schedule of classes, such events as insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, room conflicts or inclement weather may require a schedule adjustment or cancellation. We will notify students of any change in the published information.

    Student Questions and/or Complaints
    Student questions and/or complaints regarding the administration of a program should be addressed first to the Director of Professional Programs, Carroll Scherer, at 713-348-6106. If she is unable to resolve the question, the next contact is Dr. Mary McIntire, Dean of Continuing Studies, who may be contacted at 713-348-4803. Please be aware that program instructors do not set policy for program administration and do not have authority to make changes to it.

    The Glasscock School of Continuing Studies is a Registered CPE Course Provider

    We have registered with the Texas State Board of Accountancy (Registration no. 600) to meet the requirements of the continuing professional education rules covering maintenance of attendance records, retention of program outlines, qualifications of instructors, program content, physical facilities and length of class hours.
