This course is designed for photographers, Web and graphic designers, architects, drafting professionals, artists and other professionals interested in learning how to manipulate digital images using Adobe® Photoshop software. Participants will learn selection techniques and image enhancement as well as other features that allow users to express themselves creatively and produce images of exceptional quality. Each session will consist of a lecture followed by hands-on exercises to allow participants to apply what they have learned.

Note: Participants interested in leaning how to use Photoshop for nonprofessional purposes should consider Introduction to Photoshop for General Use.

Topics will include the following:

  • Tools and menus
  • Selection tools
  • Transformations
  • Selecting and adjusting color
  • Painting tools
  • Editing tools
  • Layers and filters
  • Special effects

Instructor: Patricia Seller-Wolff has more than 15 years of experience teaching computer-aided design and Adobe Photoshop for Continuing Studies at Rice University. She owns a consulting company that provides architectural and planning services and training to clients in the architecture, engineering and construction industries. Ms. Seller-Wolff holds a master's of architecture from the University of Houston.

Participants will work in a computer lab at individual workstations using the Windows® operating system.
