Although this course is not currently scheduled, custom courses for your corporation or organization may be arranged. Please call 713-348-4803 to discuss or e-mail scs@rice.edu. An important part of the standards-based future of the Web, cascading style sheets (CSS) give Web designers the power to control the look and feel of a website from a single document. A set of centrally located instructions that tell browsers how to display the page, CSS provides improved content accessibility, greater flexibility and control in the specification of the design, and reduced complexity of the structural content. If you are a user of WYSIWYG editors such as the Dreamweaver® software, this course will help you understand what is happening behind the scenes, laying the foundation for a thorough understanding of CSS. In this new hands-on course, participants will be taken from start to finish through the creation of a CSS document. Previous experience with HTML will be helpful but is not required. Instructor: Anne Jungman, an independent consultant, plans, designs, and builds websites. Since 1996, she has been involved in design, production, consulting, training, and documentation projects with WebArchitects, her Internet consulting company. In 2002, she completed a five-year assignment as project manager with the Internet services team of the JPMorgan Chase shared technology and operations division. Participants will work in a computer lab at individual workstations using the Windows® operating system. Additional keywords: information technology, computer, web design, splash pages, animation, actionscript, web development, interactive websites, building websites |
