RTEC Helps Lyondell Standardize
Software Training

More than 100 employees of Houston-based Lyondell Chemical Company and its joint venture, Equistar Chemicals, received training in computer-aided design through the Rice Technology Education Center.

"We outsource certain IT training, and this program offered exactly what we needed," said Louis Gutierrez, project manager with Lyondell. Bringing in an external resource like Rice University enabled us to train users throughout the enterprise on the latest version of the same software."

An RTEC instructor traveled to Lyondell and Equistar locations in Houston, Corpus Christi, Lake Charles, La., and Morris, Ill. "It was very cost-effective for us," Gutierrez said.
