AP Preparedness Summer Workshops

The AP Preparedness Summer Workshops are designed for Pre-AP® middle school and high school teachers.

July 9-12, 2019

The Summer AP Preparedness Workshops (formerly Pre-AP® Summer Workshops) are designed for middle school and high school teachers seeking foundational skills necessary to prepare students for success in secondary advanced academics. These workshops emphasize best practices and strategies to increase rigor in the classroom in order to prepare students for future AP success. Content specific workshops are being offered for English, math, science and social studies.

Workshops will be Tuesday-Friday, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on the Rice University campus. Only enrolled adults are allowed to participate in the workshops. The workshops cannot accommodate supervised or unsupervised children.

Professional Development Credits: Participants will receive up to 26 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits or 2.6 Continuing Education Units (CEU). SBEC Continuing Professional Education Provider Number 500571

Acknowledgment of Enrollment: Once you register for a course through our online registration system, you will be enrolled in the course. An enrollment acknowledgement will immediately be sent to the email address on your account showing payment confirmation or including instructions for submitting payment via check. In some cases, a course may be full, and you will have the option of getting on a waiting list. A waiting list is automatically created for a course once it has filled to capacity. If a spot should become available in that filled course, and you are next on the waiting list, you will receive an email to the email address on file with instructions for completing registration for that specific course. Tuition includes parking, lunch and materials:

Early Registration: $525* (until April 9)
Standard Registration: $575* (April 10-June 24)
Late Registration: $625* (after June 24)

*Some courses have an additional $50 supply fee added to the tuition amount. This fee covers the extensive additional supplies necessary for the course.
 

Hotel detail coming soon. Please do not book a hotel until you are registered in your desired course.

Rice University offers dormitories for your stay within our beautiful campus. Each room is equipped with a bed, dresser, closet, desk and chair. Please do not register for campus housing until you are registered in your desired course. 

NOTE: Campus Housing is only for registered participants of the Pre-AP Summer Workshops.

Price includes parking, breakfast Tuesday-Friday and dinner Monday-Thursday. Lunch Tuesday-Friday is included with workshop registration.

The following items are NOT provided by Rice housing. You must make arrangements to bring them yourself.

Dining Services

Dining services provides breakfast and dinner for campus housing guests.

Campus Parking

Campus parking is included with your tuition and provided in an assigned lot, to be determined. The Rice shuttle bus travels the “inner loop route” from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. After that time participants will need to walk across campus to return to their housing.

Information Technology

Free wireless internet access is available throughout campus. No password is necessary.

Fondren Library

Public research terminals are located directly around the reference desk on the first floor of the library. Computers for online catalog searching are also available on each floor. Computer access for e-mail and word processing is not available to the public.
