CEOs and teachers, musicians and engineers, recent graduates and retirees—at Rice, our diverse student body is what makes the university experience unique. With so many different points of view interacting on a daily basis, we are able to create a community of critical thinkers and lifelong learners. Many of our students are returning to school years after earning their undergraduate degree, and many are unsure if it’s too late to pursue an advanced degree.
We believe that now is the best time to start a new chapter—it may give you the edge you need in your daily life. Now more than ever it’s critical to have razor-sharp skills and a global perspective to make an impact in today’s world. The Master of Liberal Studies (MLS) program at Rice can help you attain both, without sacrificing your full-time career.
“Rice MLS students are from all walks of life—some are busy professionals, others second-career retirees or those simply seeking new perspectives and challenges,” said Rebecca Sharp, Director, Master of Liberal Studies. “We’ve designed a program to meet all of their needs, including a more flexible schedule so they can still work full time or so they can travel with their family.”
Created for those who want a rigorous academic experience without a rigid degree plan, the MLS program is designed to be accessible for those with an already busy life. Centrally located and infinitely customizable, the program can be taken on a part-time basis to allow students the flexibility they need to study, work and have a personal life.
How would your life look while you pursue this advanced degree at Rice? No matter what you imagine, we can help you make it happen.
