Our Commitment
Rice University is committed to keeping the costs of the Master of Liberal Studies program as low as possible. The MLS tuition has been significantly reduced to make high-quality, multidisciplinary graduate education accessible to a wider audience.* Financial aid and program scholarships are available for qualifying students. Each student receives a campus ID, a Rice e-mail account, Fondren Library privileges, access to the Rice Recreation Center and representation in the Rice University Graduate Student Association (GSA).

Annual tuition increases should be expected. All tuition refunds are subject to the refund schedule posted in the official Rice University academic calendar. In addition, the MLS program offers a 50% discount to benefits-eligible Rice staff who demonstrate a financial need. Rice alumni automatically receive a 10% tuition discount. |

FINANCIAL AID & SCHOLARSHIPS
Tuition Assistance
Students in the Master of Liberal Studies program may be eligible to receive federal student loans, Grad PLUS loans and private loans. The enrollment requirement for eligibility is at least half-time or 4.5 hours. Visit for Rice University's Office of Financial Aid for more information.
The MLS program offers limited scholarships to current students who demonstrate financial need. These scholarships are 100% supported by MLS alumni. The MLS program is also actively seeking individuals or corporations to underwrite scholarship funds that help worthy students pursue their degree.
