Access to Parking
A parking card and hangtag for West Lot 4 and 5 will be provided for select courses and can be picked up at the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies located in the Anderson-Clarke Center at Rice University on or before the first day of your class. We will no longer be mailing parking cards, hang tags, and enrollment acknowledgements with the intent of reducing our carbon footprint. If you still need a copy of your enrollment acknowledgement, please contact the department specific email address and/or phone number.
The best access point for campus is Entrance #8 at the intersection of University Boulevard and Stockton Drive. Turn in at this entrance and our building is the second on your left with the small green lawn and sphere figures in front. Take your very next left and you may park in the 15-minute spots located directly behind our building or pull into the circle drive on your left next to the building. Please walk through the front double doors to our first floor reception area and pick up your parking card and hang tag. Please be prepared to show your electronic receipt for your course or program.
Parking is available with most registrations at the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. If you have questions of whether parking is included with your registration, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 713-348-4803.
Using Your Parking Card and Hangtag
When you arrive for each class meeting, you will be allowed access to West Lot 4 and 5 by inserting the parking card into the gate receptacle, barcode up, arrow pointing towards the receptacle.
Please hang the hangtag from your rearview mirror with the printed side facing outward. You may only use the parking card and hangtag to park on campus during your class time. (To maintain the integrity of the parking card, do not bend, fold, or expose the card to sun or water.)
Note: If your class takes place during the day of an athletic event, you will not have to pay the fee to enter West Lot 4 or 5, as your parking card and hangtag are still valid.
Shuttle Bus on Weekdays
Inner Loop shuttle buses operate Monday through Friday, 6 a.m.-10:45 p.m. and leave from West Lot 4 every 5-8 minutes during the school year. If you are unfamiliar with the campus, please tell the bus driver the name of the building in which your class meets so he or she may assist you. Summer schedule is 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Greater Loop shuttle buses operate Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. and leave from the entrance of the Anderson-Clarke Center every 10-15 minutes. Note: Runs only during the school year. You can see where the shuttle buses are in real-time on the Shuttle Tracker System.
Weekends and Holidays
The Rice shuttle buses do not run on weekends or holidays. If your class meets on a weekend or holiday and you do not wish to walk from West Lot 4 or 5, you may choose to park in a paid visitor lot that may be closer to your building (see below).
Some participants in classes that meet on the main Rice campus may be given parking validations instead of parking cards and hang tags. These validations may be used in the paid visitor lots. You will be sent separate instructions.

Intensive English Program students must purchase a parking permit. Information on how to obtain the permit will be provided on the first day of class.
